Reds to Hold First Practice, Makeup Tryouts on Sunday

Make-ups and the first practice for the 16U Reds will be held this Sunday, May 4 at Butler Field.

Preliminary schedules for the 16U Red team and 18U Blue team have been posted. See team schedule links at the left for details.

This year, the club is reviewing its 12U and 14U schedules and travel plans for the summer in an attempt to reduce dues and other costs associated with the program. The 16U Reds and 18U Blues will be playing ASA qualifiers and exposure tournaments this summer and into the fall.

The two-fold mission of the Austin Storm Fastpitch Club is 1) To cultivate and develop its younger players to prepare them for high school softball and 2) Further develop its high school players in ASA and college exposure venues to prepare them for recruitment into college-level fastpitch softball programs.

Congratulations to 18U's Candace Velasquez, the latest Class of 2008 recruit, with her committment to play ball at McLennan Junior College. So far this season, six members of the 18U Blue team have announced their college choices (running list below). New Cages Completed at the Storm's Indoor Facility, Reserve Space Now
The Storm is pleased to announce that two additional batting cages are going in at The Barn. Bringing the total to four full-sized cages, the Barn will soon be ready to accommodate team and individual lessons and practices. Now that the temps are cooling, the Barn will get busy as area teams and players hit the indoors for practice. Don't forget the water and Gatorade vending machines are also ready to serve.

The Storm's indoor facility is located at 4612 Burleson Road, next door to Catfish Parlour on E Ben White.
